Project Overview
The City of North Olmsted is in the process of updating the Citywide Comprehensive Plan, as is required by the Municipal Charter every ten years. This comes at a time when the city is at an interesting and critical juncture - significant restructuring is taking place within the North Olmsted City School District, housing stock is aging, and the commercial and real estate markets are settling into a new, post-pandemic normal.
Since its initial development during the post-war mid-twentieth century, North Olmsted, has principally functioned as a bedroom community, with an excellent school system, and access to a vast array of retail amenities. The City is centrally located in Northeast Ohio and features a well-connected transportation network anchored by Lorain Road. This is the city’s main thoroughfare, which is considered to be a regionally significant east-west corridor that connects North Olmsted to the City of Cleveland, the core city of the region.
The goal of the Master Plan is to create a place-based, holistic, living, comprehensive planning document that sets a guiding vision for the next ten years of the city. The plan will focus on connecting the people, places, and organizations of the city to develop the built environment in a way that fosters connectivity and builds community cohesion.
The City of North Olmsted is committed to an open and transparent process. Throughout the duration of the plan, project updates, meeting presentations, and opportunities for the community to engage and provide input will be hosted here on this webpage.
